"Major Network Upgrade" in Morgan Hill, CA — High-Split?

Oatman

I live in Morgan Hill, California and just received an email from Spectrum saying they're performing a "major network upgrade" at my address over three consecutive nights (Aug. 2–5).

The email says Internet service may be interrupted overnight and that my "Internet experience will be improved" once the work is complete.

Has anyone else in Morgan Hill (or nearby South San Jose/Gilroy) received the same email?

I'm particularly curious whether this is related to Spectrum's high-split / Network Evolution rollout.

A few questions:

  • Did your upload speeds increase afterward?
  • Were symmetrical speeds (e.g. 500/500 or 1G/1G) made available?
  • Was a modem swap required, especially if you were using a customer-owned DOCSIS 3.1 modem like the ARRIS S33?
  • If it was high-split work, how long after the construction did the new speed tiers become available?

Hey @Oatman! I do show the upgrade work is for high split which will increase upload to be symmetrical to download. This work typically takes several months to complete and then longer before the symmetrical speeds actually go into effect. There are no customer owned modems approved for use with high split, you will need to get one from us but there is no charge for it.
