Any progress on Troy, IL 62294 symmetrical roll out? I asked customer service about a year ago and they said it was coming soon. Looking forward to it.

    I called and was told it was available only if I use spectrum's modem and wifi router service. It is $105\mo, including a $10 monthly fee for the router. I said I don't want the router/wifi service and they said it is part of the plan and no option to remove. That just sounds crazy to me.

    I would love for Spectrum to allow customer modems for this service as I have a brand new modem on the compatibility list and capable of up to 2.5g, but I can work with needing to use Spectrum's modem. The requirement of bundling WiFi is really a showstopper for me. I have a 3 month old router setup and controlled by me for over 100 smart home devices. If Spectrum can give a discount on the 1 gig service and I don't have to use the WIfi service (no spectrum wifi broadcasting in my home), I would probably get this service right now.

    Last I heard, there are exactly zero 3rd party modems that have been certified for high split use on Spectrum. Your experience would indicate that is still true. While you may have a modem that works on paper, it would still have to go through Spectrum's certification process in order to be allowed on their network for high split (symmetrical) markets such as yours.

    Note this comment: "Customer-owned modems are only authorized for non-symmetrical speed tiers. In select markets, we offer symmetrical speed tiers (equal upload and download speeds). Those customers must use a Spectrum-provided modem."
