Errors in the Program Guide (missing episodes number, etc)
I keep encountering errors in the Program Guide in the Spectrum app. These involve programs with no episode numbers. This causes problems when trying to locate these episodes in my recordings, because normally the most recent episodes are listed first and then are displayed in descending order. But recordings without episode numbers are placed after all the other episodes, so a recording from the current day (i.e. August 15, 2026) would be listed after a recording from several months earlier.
This problem seems to happen most often on weekends. I have no idea why this would be. Sometimes the program guide info gets updated late on Fridays or even Saturdays, but not always. I have reported this to Spectrum but the problem still occurs.
I have read that Spectrum and other TV providers do not create the Program Guide data but they get it from another supplier. This does not relieve them from contacting that company to complain. I tried searching here but didn't find an existing post. I would be amazed if noone else has encountered this problem.

Hello!
I do apologize for the issues with the guide. The information such as episode numbers is provided to us by the networks. If the information is not there then it was not provided to us. Not all networks/programs list the information for season/episode number.

I don't care about the programs that don't actually have episode numbers. I'm referring to programs that I regularly record that are supposed to have episode numbers but are not shown in the program data. I'm not even asking you people to detect that a program which is supposed to have an episode number is missing. I'm asking you to complain to the appropriate network when I or other customers tell you that the error has occurred. I don't think that's an unreasonable request.

Will you please provide examples of programs with this error?

I have repeatedly reported them to Spectrum customer service, but they don't seem to care. Should I report them here instead? If so, I will do so the next time it happens.

Yes, if you will please provide the examples here we will be happy to investigate it.

Here are several shows from next weekend that do not have Episode information. These are all shows that I regularly record from the Fox News Channel:
Saturday 8/22:
Fox Report with John Scott 3pm 4pm
The Big Weekend Show 5pm 6pm 7pm
Life Liberty and Levin 8 pm
My View with Lara Trump 9pmSunday 8/23
Maria Bartiromo 10 am
Fox Report with John Scott 3pm 4pm
The Big Weekend Show 5pm 6pm 7pm
Life Liberty and Levin 8 pm
Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy 10pmThere are few others. As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, this problem mostly happens on the weekend on Fox News Channel. I can't say if there are other channels with the same issue. I just choose to record a lot of shows from that channel.

I've checked your examples and I am seeing episode numbers listed for all of them. What device are you seeing this on? Have you tested a different one?

This is on my Iphone using the Spectrum TV app looking at both the Guide itself and in the Scheduled recordings. You would have to actually schedule a recording of one of these shows to see that on your app.
I haven't looked at it using the guide on the Spectrum app on one of my Samsung smart TV'S
Edit:
I just looked at the Guide on my Samsung TV and it doesn't show episode numbers for these shows either.
Are you sure you are looking at next weekend (8/22 and 8/23)?0 -
No sorry. You mentioned recordings from the current day being listed after a recording from several months earlier, so I was looking at past episodes and those coming up in the next few days, which all have episode numbers and are listed in the correct order. I'm able to look at the guide exactly how you would see it at watch.spectrum.net. It appears it is only episodes nearly a week out, but they are all getting episode numbers and are listed in the correct order before it is time for them to be recorded and viewed. Guide data may be more limited and likely to change that far out.

I apologize for any confusion caused by my posts. There are actually 2 different results caused by the absence of episode numbers in the program guide:
- If I record a program which does not have an episode number in the guide, it gets recorded without an episode number, which in turn results in the recording being listed in the wrong location (i.e. not in chronological order). I am trying to avoid this by focusing on the real problem which is the missing episode number.
- Here's the real problem. There appears to be a problem that only seems to involve Fox News channel (channel 37 and 1214) and mostly only affecting weekend programs. This is why I pointed out examples of upcoming programs that are missing the episode numbers. While it is true that these missing episode numbers frequently show up before the recordings take place, all too often they do not show up which results in problem number 1 occurring. Please focus your efforts on the missing episode information and not the improper sorting of recordings. It seems obvious to me that this problem only appears to involve the program guide for Fox News channel. I would hope that you Spectrum folks would be more capable of reporting this to the people responsible for the bad program guide info than a single customer.
Please let me know if this has clarified which issue I am most interested in getting resolved.

Edited (my bad): Two problems, neither of which do i believe is the cause of the other:
- Cloud DVR doesn't have a way to sort recordings by recorded date/time (or does it?)
- Live production programs that have multiple new episodes airing per weekend may either have only the first of those new airings episodically serialized or none at all.
E.g. 1: Life, Liberty and Levin: New episode on Saturday = episodically serialized. Next new episode, on Sunday, might not be properly serialized by the time of first new airing which, in turn, might go back to whenever Levin had but one new episode per week. If you notice that and also notice the same thing with, say, the "FOX One" app, then it would obviously be entirely upon the originating distributor.

This program is simply not episodically serialized as far as i can tell and, again, as you might be able to confirm via, say, the "FOX One" app, this fact of the matter is entirely upon the originating distributor.
