Unable to Access Legacy @bak.rr.com Email – IDIR-1023
I am trying to regain access to an old legacy RoadRunner bak.rr.com email account. I no longer have the email password. I followed the legacy email instructions and attempted the password reset through Spectrum.net, but I receive error IDIR-1023 stating that the information doesn't match Spectrum's records. I need to determine whether this legacy mailbox still exists and, if it does, get assistance resetting the email password because I need to retrieve an important email. Could a Spectrum moderator please contact me privately to verify the account and check the status of the mailbox?

Good evening @AlexanderM and Welcome to our Community Forums,
Thank you for reaching out to us about accessing a legacy email account. I am seeing that you recently spoke with our support team about this. Have you accessed this email address within the last year? -Lyn

Yes, I did speak with the support team a couple of days ago regarding this issue. However, I have not accessed the email account within the last year. Could you please check whether the legacy mailbox still exists or if there is any possibility of restoring access? I can provide any information needed through private message.

There is not an @bak.rr.com email associated with this account. If the email was associated with a previous, closed account then access would have been restricted and the email would have been purged. Once an orphaned email is purged, it cannot be restored or retrieved.

Thank you for checking. I understand it is not associated with my current account. The @bak.rr.com email may have been associated with an older Time Warner Cable account. I have not logged into or accessed the email account in approximately four years. Is there any way you can help me verify the specific legacy email address privately and determine whether the mailbox has actually been purged? If the mailbox itself cannot be restored, is there any possible way to recover or retrieve any mail that was previously stored in it?

Email is a free service associated with an active internet subscription. Once the account is closed, then access is restricted, usually within 60 days. Any email account that has been inactive for 4+ years would have been purged along with the associated emails and would be unrecoverable.
While it doesn't help this situation, for future reference we recommend forwarding important emails from ISP supported email service to a different email provider, such as Gmail, to ensure that important emails can be accessed after the account is closed or changed.
