Why would my internet be out but not my neighbor?

    Welcome!

It could be several reasons. Equipment hiccup. Houses are serviced by power grid perimeters. My power grid ends, where my neighbor next door to the North of us is on a different grid. (One house down.) This is why over the years in bad weather we have had isolated instances where our power goes out and hers stays on, and vice-versa.

Is your Internet back up and running now? If still out for a time, have you tried rebooting your modem?
