Changing password of old charter email account

I recently tried to change the password on my charter.net email account going back 15 to 20 years. There is no access to it in my email account on spectrum and when I spoke to a they told me that this email been discontinued on their site. I still receive important emails via this account, but I am concerned for security reasons. Is there anyway to change my email password without going through spectrum?

    Hello @Hollymya

Welcome to the Community Forums. I reviewed your account and the email address I believe you are using is not tied to any billing account. Can you confirm that the email linked to your profile is the affected email account?

Yes it is the affected account. I have had this email account for years and I was told it was purged, but I am still currently using it. The problem is that I have no way to change the password

Thank you for the clarification. The account is currently not linked to any account. This will prevent any password resets from working. The old password will likely still work for the time being.

So, how do I close the email account?

Generally, in order to remove or delete the email address it would need to be linked to an active account.
