    Hello @jrsjdb

Welcome to our community! There isn't a standard amount of bandwidth or internet speed typically required to use a VPN. Some VPN providers may have requirements or suggested equipment or speeds, but that would be up to whatever company is providing the VPN. If you are using a VPN to remote in for your job, your work's IT team would be able to let you know if they have any requirements or suggestions as well.

The nature of how VPN's work causes some manner of reduction in throughput.

Some are better than others, but even ones that don't throttle bandwidth at all will still have some amount of slowdown on user data transfers because encapsulation reduces how much user data can go into each packet. Even if it is just 80 bytes per 1500 byte ethernet frame... that adds up on larger files.

So if you are needing a certain level of bandwidth for an application that will go over a VPN, may want to make sure you are provisioned for a slightly higher rate than what that application needs.
