How to report and resolve AUP#In-1310 issues
For many months now, friends that have emailed me previously with no issues occasionally report to me that their emails are being rejected by spectrum's servers. The specific error code is AUP#In-1310, which spectrum defines as
"Spectrum limits the number of concurrent connections from a sender, as well as the total number of connections allowed. Limits vary based on the reputation of the IP address. Reduce your number of connections and try again later."
Most of these emails are coming from their personal Gmail addresses, where only a few people (2 to 4) have been copied. Usually I am on the cc list when this happens. Most recently it happened from a business email address - again, someone who's emailed me frequently with no issues.
Why is spectrum randomly blocking these, and how do I get it resolved? I can provide specific emails that have been blocked if that is helpful.

Hello @Levman01;
Welcome to the Community Forums. Our mail servers have many Spam protection systems in place to protect against Spam message. We will monitor when there is many email messages coming to us from a single person or server. The limit is for all activity to our network. It is possible that the limit was reached while your friend was sending to other Spectrum customers. It is also possible that it could be one of gmail's mail servers that is hitting our limit. The bounce back message they received will have information on what they can do to address the issue. They can also contact gmail to see if there is an issue with an increase amount of messages being sent out on their server. The limits are also temporary and will clear if no new messages are sent out for a while.

Thank you for the detailed answer. I think it's unrealistic though to expect Gmail and other providers to make adjustments when it's Spectrum's overzealous limits that are causing the problem.

All i can figure is that the connections catch with AUP fault code 1310 is explicitly sender-specific as in how variously and how often the specific sender is hitting Spectrum incoming MX via SMTP relay regardless of sender's email provider.
No consolation but speaking of Gmail, that kind of thing apparently happens with it, too, e.g.: 🔗

I am having the same issue. A friend of mine maintains a prayer list for our church. When she sends an update to the list some of the Spectrum email addresses are blocked with this error code. This is extremely frustrating. Is there anything she or I can do to resolve the problem?

Hello @Bobbi61;
Welcome to the Community Forums. The issue is related to the mail host that is reaching our limits. There are actions that they can take to help resolve the issue and it can vary depending on the sender. The error message that the person is receiving will have an email address for our security team that they can reach out to. They will want to send a copy of the bounce back message, the headers within the bounce back, and any information on the messages that they send. The security team will review it and reach back out with advise on what needs to be done.

I've had several people forward the bounce email with the error message to me, and none of those emails included information on whom to contact. Which is why I posted here in the first place! The only thing that was provided was an error message, and a link to look up the error message. Specifically, what was provided (by Gmail) was as follows:

The response from the remote server was:
550 5.1.0 sender rejected. Please see
for more information. AUP#In-1310—

Hello @Levman01;
The emails being sent to them should also include an attachment. The information in the attachment should have the contact information and the details of the servers involved. The email address that they would send to is abuse@charter.net.
