So many websites blocked. Most of them are not likely problematic. I frequently get "Banking protection is active". I can add websites to the list of exceptions, but it is glitchy. Even when I do that I very often get another message; "The connection for this site is not secure". This one I can not override. It flags sites on reddit, large business websites and so many others. I know this is an issue since switching several of my computers to Charter security suite. I have used it on other computers for decades without problems.

Is this an issue with my settings? Do I need to simply give up on this program? Most of the features are apparently borrowed from Microsoft Defender. Still, I have used Charter security suite for years and on almost ten computers. Please let me know if there is a solution, as the problem is making browsing almost impossible.

Hello and Welcome to the forums, @kansas1976

You might want to do some experimentation by turning off the Spectrum security suit temporarily and see if that resolves the issue. Possibly an update to Security Suite may have compromised the sites you are visiting. If that resolves the issue, than perhaps use Windows Defender only, and uninstall Spectrum security suite. You should not have more than one AV protection on your system, because they can conflict with each other at some point. Windows Defender, keeping Windows up to date, and securely encrypting your router is enough. Today's browsers update automatically.

If you are still having problems, maybe a Windows Recovery or a complete Windows reinstall may be needed. If you do Windows Recovery, you will have the option to reinstall Windows and either keep documents and settings, or removing everything and starting from scratch. If you do reinstall Windows, I would suggest just keeping Windows Defender, and re-installing only the programs and apps that you use. It will speed up your PC and make it more reliable.

@kansas1976 : Just curious: With reference to the fault that you said you can't override:

    1. Is that just with the Edge browser?
    2. Share a screenshot if you've a mind to.
    3. Cite a couple of website URL's it happens with if you've a mind to.

Sometimes browser extensions and plugins don't update properly and need to be reinstalled.

Used to happen a LOT to the Samsung browser. The Avast website safety grading thing routinely went AWOL for a while in FF... one of a few things that drove me away from that AV product.

IDK how many times I needed to reinstall ad blockers and translation components in various browsers over the years.

    May be worth a shot.
