Problem with Outlook settings - AUP OUT 1500
Having problems with outlook settings - I have an HVC.RR.COM address if that has any bearing.
Once the settings are entered into Outlook the Test button is selected - the test email is sent and appears in the Inbox - yet Outlook is not yet finished and although the settings appear to be correct - the Send/Receive task fails with the AUP OUT 1500 message shown in the attachment.
Things I have tried:
In the Outgoing Server tab I tried selecting "Log On Using" and explicitly entering in my email address and password.
In the Advanced tab I tried changing the Incoming port from 995 to 993 (as documented in other posts) but that results in a different/immediate error (the test message never gets sent).
Changed Incoming and Outgoing mail servers from mail.twc.com to that noted by MarvVan in the article linked below - this resulted in a prompt to install a certificate - which I did - the test email went - but still got the AUP OUT 1500 error.
Using Outlook 365 and a wireless connection from my laptop when accessing email.
Engaged a friend who is an IT worker and this has him stumped as well - any help appreciated.

We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your road runner email while utilizing the outlook web platform. First and foremost, please know that we do not support the outlook platform and are unable to guarantee it's results, as it is not our product. Having said that, I was able to access your account using the email provided during your registration process. I can confirm that email and mailbox is active and able to be utilized. To confirm, have you recently completed any system updates to your outlook email?

P.S.: i can tell you for a fact that AUP fault code #1500 can and has meant that the email address in both the email address and user name fields aren't entirely proformically identical to each other.

I just noted that most of the comments and instructions specify to use IMAP rather than POP. What settings are to be used if I am still on POP and would rather not change…
To get started, make sure you have the following settings:
- Username: Your full Spectrum email address
- Password: Your Spectrum email password
- SSL: On
- ****** Protocol: IMAP ******
- Incoming Server Port: 993
- Outgoing Server Port: 587
- Requires Authentication: Yes, or checked
