Number of recordings
Recently our DVR died. We had it replaced and found that that our recording scheduling didn't work. We can't record three shows at once. Our old DVR could. Thus for example, we used to record the three network evening news shows - ABC, CBS and NBC. Now, it declared a conflict and recorded nothing. Why the change? I've read it is the number of tuners in the device. Why with new ones a switch to a lower capacity. We've had two DVRs before and they weren't limited.

The physical DVR boxes have a four tuner capacity, which means that you could watch a channel and record three others. You should not be getting a conflict in this instance. If this limitation is a hindrance, you might want to switch to a streaming streaming plan and Cloud DVR service. Strong Internet signals are mandatory for the Spectrum Streaming device plans and Cloud DVR service. I would recommend you schedule a tech to check out your signals and lines should you go with a streaming device plan. For more details on Cloud DVR service options, consult the information below:

@Falcon_7766 : If it only has two tuners, see if you can swap it out (e.g. at the Spectrum store) for one that has four (e.g. a Spectrum 210.)

Just to give a more official answer, the amount of tuners can vary depending on equipment you receive. Originally, DVR's had 2 tuners that would either allow 2 recordings, or the ability to watch one channel while you record another. This is the type you currently have and are still widely available. Most of the newer units that are Spectrum labeled currently have 4 tuners. Some that were previously offered also had 6. You could receive any DVR equipment available when it's exchanged if the equipment and guide type it uses is still in use. If you do go to swap out equipment, you could always receive another 2 tuner as we aren't able to guarantee any specific equipment when exchanged.
