Is there a way to disable power saving feature?
Occasionally I get a pop-up message on the TV screen "Attention. To continue watching, press any button."
Is there a way to disable that with a UR3-SR2 remote with a Cisco 4742HDC receiver?

The feature you are seeing is a power save mode. The following instructions will provide you information on how to disable the feature.
- Press Settings. Settings appears with a list of horizontal categories and vertical options.
- Use the left/right arrows to highlight Timers in the horizontal list of categories.
- Use the up/down arrows to highlight Power Save Mode.
- Press Select to turn Power Save Mode on or off.
- Press Exit to exit Settings.

Okay, the POWER SAVE mode was OFF, so that isn't the problem.

I've noticed it most on Comedy Central. Usually in the "wee hours". I need the TV on to sleep and if it shuts off, it wakes me up which is annoying. Sometimes when I change the channel after the message, I see "PLEASE WAIT" which can last from a few seconds to almost a minute.

Only because i'm more skeptical that Comedy Central would be an SDV channel than that the idiosyncrasy could be something else, just curious if you are able to replicate it with nothing but the HDMI cable connected between the box and the TV (no analog!) If your TV doesn't accommodate that, then just curious if you are able to replicate it with, say, your PBS channel which would definitely not be SDV.

I can't say at this point since I usually leave it on CC at night.
BTW - I don't have an HTMI connection - it's coax from the receiver to the CRT TV.

Heard that. For whatever it's worth: If it doesn't happen with HDMI-only or if it does happen with e.g. PBS in any case or if the box turns off instead of going to a different channel when the alert unrespondedly times out, then i like your chances that it's nevertheless some kind of a power-saving or timer setting idiosyncrasy with the box if not the TV.
But if you need anything besides HDMI out of an HD box, the subject box is a top-notch one to live with, residual idiosyncrasies notwithstanding. Over and out. ☘️

Comedy Central went black screen 3 times overnight although changing the channel then returning to CC temporarily fixed it.

I'll have to not what times I get a black screen.
If it was maintenance, just changing the channel likely wouldn't he;p. I don't remember when my receiver had a firmware update.

I am so used to the setup I have now, I am reluctant to change it. That's why I have a CRT TV, a landline phone, a computer with a Windows 7 OS and a 24 year old car. Learning new technology isn't as easy as it used to be now that I approach my mid-70s.
The last time a Spectrum tech was here, he gave me the impression that wasn't happy replacing the Cisco receiver, that had given up the ghost, with the same model. He said the next time I needed a new box, I'd likely get a Xumo and should definitely consider getting a TV that is HDMI capable. I only have the Cisco receiver because my TV doesn't have an HTMI port, only coax. I'm not sure XUMO can get the cable channels I want.
