When will Xumo Remote be replaced with a new, functional device?

Recommendations for next version of Xumo for Spectrum.

  • Remote control is too small; it is hard to hit correct buttons;
  • Issue a larger version of remote control immediately;
  • Remote is impossible to read in low light. Make buttons larger and add a light as in previous remote;
  • Add a Record button to remote control! The Record feature is very, very awkward, and doesn’t work consistently;
    • Re Record, after selecting Record, options re save period, starting early/ending later, etc., should appear immediately;
    • Record button should work both for program that is playing and also for program that is selected from the Guide, either at current time or in the future;
    • As currently, record feature should allow for current program only, or series. While that is possible with current system, it is a lot more complicated to access these options;
  • Remotes should be interchangeable with Xumo boxes. It will be a nightmare when RCs are lost or fail to function, or box has to be changed for some random reason. The entire setup process will have to be repeated, and I don’t want to go through that again!

In addition, Spectrum agents should be much better trained on operation of the Remote Control and should prepare to instruct the customer when agent delivers and connects the system.

Among functions agents should be ready to teach:

  • Recording (after above fixes are in place)
  • Closed captions, how to set up on or off, size font, location on screen, etc.
  • Use of Voice commands. Once the technician – after nearly an hour in our home – mentioned voice commands and showed us the very basics, we were more at ease. If he hadn’t stumbled on that instruction after many frustrating attempts to show us how to navigate the system, we would be much happier.
