What is causing my TV to display "Please Wait" when changing channels or randomly?

Sometimes this message pops up when just watching. It can be like that for a few seconds to several minutes and seems to be happening more and more frequently. Other times the screen just goes black with no sound, but going to a different channel and than going back to what I was watching usually fixes that, but it is annoying and I shouldn't have to do it. I had a new receiver and drop line installed 14 months ago. The receiver (Cisco 4742HDC) has not updated it's firmware that I am aware of in quiet some time. All cables are tightly connected. Rebooting the receiver has not helped.

    Hello @deedleann824,

The Cisco 4742 is at least ten years old. With the new drop a little more than a year old, the tech probably checked the signals and determined a new line drop was needed fourteen months ago. Those boxes are really ancient. If lines are good and signals are good, and reboots have not helped, the unfortunate thing is that your box is probably dying.

I would get a tech out and he/she should give you a newer model box. Report the "slowdown and "Please Wait" problems to Spectrum's customer care phone rep.

You will probably get a new box and guide from this service call.
