Does my Spectrum Router have a built in Firewall preventing from adding a new device?

    Welcome to the Community Forums. The router does have a function when you can block a device from connecting to the router but you would have had to select the option in the router while using the My Spectrum app. The issue you maybe having might be related to the functions of the new device. Many WIFI devices you buy like Cameras and similar devices have limited WIFI bands that they can connect to. Most of them need to be connected to the 2.4 WIFI band but the router maybe connecting them to one that they are not able to use. You can force the devices to connect to the 2.4 band by opening the My Spectrum app, go to services, select Set up Smart Device on 2.4 GHz, and follow the on screen instructions.
