I am having the very same error on 3 different mobile devices (all samsung galaxy phones and tablets) trying to access email on mobile.charter.net. I use the Outlook Mobile for android v5.2621.0. I have no problems accessing my email using Outlook on a Windows 11 PC. I can log into my account at spectrum.net using chrome on my mobile devices with no problems. I strongly suspect a cert error .

Just responding to the request for more customer samples.
I've been trying to get Thunderbird and/or Gmail on Android 15 to connect today. Can't speak for GMail, but Thunderbird had been working flawlessly for quite some time beforehand. However, shortly after noon Central time 6/9/26, the problem commenced.
To answer the questions specifically:
Email program you are using:
** IMAP access via Thunderbird App on Android 15.
** IMAP access via GMail App on Android 15.
** Problematic email domain: example@charter.net.Error you are receiving:
** During Thunderbird account setup: "Certificate Error. This app detected a potential security threat and did not continue to connect to mobile.charter.net." Note, I also tried removing the account entirely, and re-adding it, only to get the same error.
** During attempt to use GMail as an alternative app to access the same account results in endless progress bar cycling (ie. it stalls out, cannot add account).Does it work in webmail:
** Works fine via webmail.
** Works fine when using Thunderbird on Windows 11.Speculation: AFAICT so far, this issue only affects IMAP-based clients on Android (sorry, I have no non-Android mobile devices to try). This in combination with the previously-mentioned java exception ("java.security.cert.certpathvalidatorexception: trust anchor for certification path not found") suggests to me this is a trust-chain resolution issue, which, if I'm not mistaken, is handed directly by Android at the OS level, and not delegated directly to the email client apps.
Does it affect all emails on your account:
Yes (though it's a sample of one account only).Hope this is helpful. Cheers.

My husband and I both have this email sync issue on our Samsung phones.
Accepting all certificates seems like a bad idea.
Please fix it quickly, in a way that is secure!
Thank you!

When is the server certificate issue going to be fixed? This is going on 2 days now.

The emails stopped syncing on 6/8/226 at 21:119 on my account and my wife'wife's. When trying to send or receive email we get "Security error occurred. Server certificate not trusted." It is obvious an issue with the server certificate.

I am having the same problem with my email on my android mobile device. Server certificate is invalid on Outlook and Samsung email app. I have removed accounts and added them back.

Hi, I am also getting the security certificate issue, and unable to sync my email with any IMAP connected email platform (Thunderbird on Windows PC, Samsung email app on Android)

I'm getting the same error on a Samsung S26 Ultra, so clearly there is an issue with the certificate being shared by the mobile.charter.net server. This should not take 3 days to correct!!!

No phones in my household can get email on mobile. It is a certificate issue.
Spectrum: You need to fix the certificates. The one in place shows it will become active on June 19th. Being this started at 12am June 9th, I think there was a typo during its update.

Same problem, WIN 11, using Latest Thunderbird version. Hurry, Hurry!

Same problem with Outlook.
My wife and I both cannot connect and get emails.

Has anyone got an incident/ticket number that I can pass on to support? I am going to try and talk to them today…they have to know multiple people are impacted,

should not take this long to upload a valid certificate your server

Error is: The certificate for mobile.charter.net does not come from a trusted source.
Using Thunderbird
Works in Webmail.
No other emails on my account

All four charter.net accounts have the same cert validation problem both in Thunderbird and Android Bluemail for me. Can't believe it hasn't been already resolved at Spectrum's end.

I'm having this issue as well. My charter.net email was working fine on the Samsung email app until 2 days ago. I suddenly couldn't send or receive. Removed and tried to readd my account but I get error messages saying: Couldn't verify account. Security error occurred. Server certificate not trusted. I've also tried to add the account to Outlook and to Gmail and get the same message. All settings are correct. There's definitely an issue with Spectrum's security certifcates for mobile apps. My email works fine on the Classic Outlook on my desktop and on the Spectrum website but three different apps are throwing the same error message and won't install it.

I have started having this issue since yesterday (6/9) on my mobile (android) and android tablet (Amazon Fire HD tablet).
Error you are receiving: Keeps asking to sign in and when I sign in, login fails.
Email program you are using: Outlook
Does it work in webmail: Yes
Does it affect all emails on your account: it affects all e-mails coming to and from the IMAP server.
As a workaround, I had to remove all affected accounts from Outlook and re-added the accounts.
There was still one issue, though.
When I re-added accounts, I had the following error:
"your mail server certificate is invalid. Would you like to log in anyway?"
I clicked OK to log in anyway and was able to start receiving and sending my e-mails again.
There must be some issues with the server certificate.
I have no problem accessing my emails from desktop version of Outlook (Win 11), though, as the "Requires Authentication" option is unchecked. This option is not available on the mobile app.0 -
I am having this issue as well for the two emails on my account. I use Thunderbird. "The certificate for Mobile.charter.net does not come from a trusted source". I am able to access both email accounts on the Charter.net site.

Hello,
Our engineers have made an update and would like to know if the issue has been addressed. Can everyone retest to see if it is working?

tell me, why did it take so long to fix?… just tried and was able to send/receive

Hello @bb93444;
It is good to hear that it is working again for you. I do apologize but I do not have the exact information on the cause but our engineers did link it to another ongoing issue we were having with the email. It may have been a little more than just a certificate.

gotcha… thanks for following up

Our engineers would like a couple more verifications that it is resolved so they are sure it is fixed. Can some other individuals confirm if it is working?

called my wife to check and hers is now working too

Now working for Thunderbird on Windows 11 and Fedora 44

Thank you for verifying that it is working. That is enough examples that I need to verify that it is fixed. If you do see the problem still, please post again and we can have it looked into again.
