How get 2.4 & 5 gig wifi networks on Router

My mom Got a new Sectrum SAC2V1K router. It does not broadcast a 2.4 and 5 wifi network. She need 2.4 for her cameras. I went to the app and it will let me turn the network to 2.4 for an hour. What good does that do? After an hour the camera will try to connect to 5 and won’t work.

Is there any way to get this router to broadcast both 2.4 and 5? Or do I need to buy something else?

Hi @Markmisky, welcome to our community!

Our routers broadcast both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks under the same network name, and use band steering to determine which one is the best to use. This can cause a complication in some cases where you have a 2.4Ghz only device like a smart camera which is configured using another device like a smart phone which might be on the 5Ghz network. What the app allows you to do is force your phone onto the 2.4Ghz network for an hour so you can set up your cameras and other devices like it. After the hour your phone would switch back to 5Ghz, but camera should remain connected to the 2.4Ghz.

Thank you. I didn’t think the camera would stay on the 2.4.
