Device name change and pause schedule

hi i noticed when i have a pause schedule defined on the app for certain devices, if the user changes the device name from iphone to say iphoneold, the app does not recognize this as the same device that is in the pause schedule. how to address the issue. any ideas? i thought the app was smart enough to work on the mac address and not on the name of the device. thoughts? thanks
