What type of maintenance?

I received an automated phone message this morning stating maintenance will be in progress July 7-11. The message did not state what the maintenance is.

I am hoping it is for Docsis4.0.
If it is Docsis4.0 won't I need a new modem? Will they be dropping those off or will I need to go to my local store for the trade-in?

Thanks ahead of time,
Ron

Hello and welcome to the Spectrum Community!

I am seeing the upgrades are to the node. As of right now I am not seeing any upgrades that will involve docsis 4.0. If/when we do those upgrades you will be notified well in advance if new equipment is needed.

Hi Ron, Welcome to our Community!

Spectrum typically will not say the type of maintenance they are doing other than sometimes in a general way, they could say the types that will be affected. (Cable/Streaming TV, Voice, Internet, Mobile.) This could be a prep for High Split Internet Conversion updates. (Check Spectrum's list here) It will list communities tentatively scheduled for High Speed Internet conversions. Spectrum is always updating this. If your area is not listed, it means your community is more than six months away from being upgraded:

Doc Sis 4.0 is still a ways away. They recently did the upgrade to Doc Sis 3.1 in our area. If you have 3.1, you wont need a new modem for several years. Spectrum will notify users well in advance if they need a new modem. If you still have 3.0 and you rent your modem from Spectrum, you can upgrade to 3.1 for faster speeds. If you want a higher speed than what your Internet package currently has, 3.1 is the highest tech modem they have now. You might have to pay a little more if you move to a higher speed package.

I would not expect Doc Sis 4.0 until the high split Internet conversion is completed.
