Why am I hearing that some of my Disney-owned TV channels, including ESPN, may go away?

Spectrum, you KNEW this was coming and yet you failed to notify your customers. This is on YOU Spectrum, not Disney. If you didn't spend the money we pay to lobby state legislatures to restrict competition we'd be paying a lot less and getting more. I just hope Ben Lomand will expand into my neighborhood, but meanwhile I'll be considering my options going forward.

They better be issuing refunds since Spectrum is no longer paying for the ESPN channels. I'm not paying $220/month for internet/cable to not have access to the sports channels. Looks like going with a different ISP and youtube.tv is a better deal.

There are other ways to watch TV..... CABLE is only hurting itself..... As well as Disney..... Both are MONEY hungry and don't really care about their customers.... it's all about the money. This was a PLANNED event. College Football begins tonight and they knew what an uproar this would bring...
Spectrum has the only cable service in my area and now they are trying to squeeze more money from us, as well as Disney.
Spectrum is in violation of their contract with it's subscribers to provide the channels we have paid for.... Sounds like a Class Action to me..... I'm in.... OK all you Attorneys--- get to work.

Will this Disney dispute be settled by Saturday noon? I live for college football. If I go to another provider there will be no coming back.

Fix this now or this is one customer that will be switching providers before Sunday morning. Stop making excuses and provide the services that are agreed upon.

Hell is raining down on those poor stiffs Spectrum has dealing with the angry villagers

First you change our package and assured us in TWO letters the price would not go up. Internet went to 49.99, from 44. something I didn't agree to! Now we have lost all these channels tonight, because you could not contact us and tell us we upped your packages to BS you don't want but now it is gone! I never wanted Sports package over and over I said this but you insisted you HAD to have it, NO, I do not, I don't watch sports, I do watch half the channels now gone. I am so over your lies You like to us about the package and the price, and now you think you are going to charge us because you couldn't figure this out? NO! I will not pay for screens telling me how hard you fight for us, if that was true this wouldn't have happened. Charge me for this and I will just end this once and for all, I have been a customer since Time Warner but you could care less about loyalty all about money! Told us our bill would not change when you forced this package on us, we did not need 50. internet that has never reached the speed you claim, or channels you knew we would lost but didn't tell us. ALL about GREED and not honesty! Since no one here has ever watched any sports channel I am not paying for them, as for the rest that are gone I will also not pay for this mess you created. You Breeched the contract you made with us, we are not responsible you are, Charge me for this mess, and I will take every letter I have gotten from Spectrum assuring us our bill would not go up, only for it to go up another 5 bucks, to the news! I will also show them how you never told us we would lose half the things you upgraded to just so you could collect the money you do not deserve! Fix it or correct every bill of every person you lied to , moved over to a package they didn't want and now have lost half that was on it, or promised higher speed internet which we do not have but we pay for NO MORE!

100% Spectrum's fault. It's funny how they are spinning this as a Disney problem and trying to get us to complain to Disney. No, I'm complaining to Spectrum. I pay Spectrum not Disney. I am a customer of Spectrum not Disney (although I did just buy Disney+ so that I can watch the football games). Forcing us to streaming channels is probably not going to work out well for Spectrum. Typical short term thinking. Bye.

Thanks for losing ESPN channels just as football season starts. If there was another cable service available in my area I would be there now. If this isn’t resolved quickly I will be switching to a streaming provider before next week.

Spectrum caused this, Spectrum fix it period, no one asked for you to upgrade and lie like you did to us. I pay Spectrum every month, I do not have Disney service nor would pay for it. I expect my bill to be adjusted to show just how much you took away. Most companies don't decide for you you want a new package and shove you on it like you did us! At this point if streaming is less then the charges you make us pay, you are not worth the lies you tell us, upgrade to 50. internet with not the speed you promised but you did promise the bill would not go up, in two letters, and it did, so please either you fix your mess which you created because I never heard a word until the channels went off, and refund everyone there money because I have a feeling these are not gone for good, if true so are we, I am sick of getting lied to from you!

I am distressed that we lost our Disney owned channels, especially ESPN, with little notice. Spectrum raises our monthly fee consistently, will we see a reduction with this huge loss? We have been loyal customers for many years, long before Spectrum purchased the company. We may be looking at other options if this is not resolved.

Removing coverage of the first Mizzou football game on the SEC network during the first drive without warning is disgusting. Then displaying a slide to complain about the situation to another company. Why am I paying for this?

I agree with this post. You either get our contracted agreement channels back or start refunding costumers for channels you lost. I’ve paid for these channels. Theses channels just don’t go away without spectrum compensating its customer for the loss. You are violating your contract when your customers signed up for your cable services. What is so incredibly stupid on your part is the alternative apps you suggest cost. Are you going to pay for these charges? You say your are looking out for your customers. That’s the biggest load of “BS” I’ve heard in a long time. Don’t blame your incompetence on us.

It's all about corporate greed. Neither Disney nor Spectrum E ecutives give a rat's ass a out yhe consumer. As long as they get their 8 figure income and the consumers continue to buy their inflated services we will have no choice but to keep taking it in the ***!!

I intensely dislike being thrown under the bus as a customer because of a business dispute you could not resolve in a timely fashion. It only makes your customer relations worse. This is your problem, not mine. I paid for and expected certain sports programming, now I'm scrambling. I refuse to pay full price while this goes on, and will file a complaint with the PSC if necessary. Will Spectrum be compensating customers for loss of programming during this needless drama?

Tired of networks being blamed for rising costs to the customers. If you want to help lower costs and negotiate with networks, then allow customers to hand pick the channels they want and pay accordingly. I don’t care about 99% of the channels in any package you offer, but I pay extra just to have access to sports (ESPN in particular). Either fix the issue or you’ve lost another customer.

File a complaint with your public service commission. This is a blatant abuse of customers in a business dispute. It's like putting your children in the middle of a marital spat.

100% Spectrum fault…after 30 years with them…getting very tired of their games. I only watch a few channels for $250/ month, and ESPN is one of them…..where is my refund?

I have 2 Spectrum accounts paying over $600/month, and the only channel I watch every day, FXX, for the Family Guy, just got removed. And Spectrum just lists a statement saying Disney is unfair and contact them. Are you serious???? That's the end of the fiberoptic line for me.

Since Spectrum only gives an option to contact Disney as if they are the responsible party when both corporations are equally culpable IMO.
My bill just went up and now I’ve lost all these channels with no warning. Avarice, greed and manipulation of customers on the part of these corporations. Disgraceful.
I have never liked this company but there are no other options for cable in my area. Even so if this isn’t resolved within 24hrs I will be looking for other options.
Disney and Spectrum deserve lose a large portion of their customers

and the chicken $**t company can't even respond. They must realize their medium is going the way of the dinosaur, and trying to take all of our cash with it. No Family Guy, No Peace.

Watching the pre-game show then right at 7pm... shut down on ESPN. Missed kick-off of college ball and chat with Spectrum yields instructions that I "be patient" and that I would get a $15 credit...
I have paid Spectrum for a channel line-up. They have failed in providing the goods and services I have paid for. This is the very definition of FRAUD.

I just chatted on spectrum and got the number for cancellation 888 369 2408. If this is not fixed by Saturday am this will be my last 'carriage contract' with Spectrum as well. I hope some Spectrum shareholders read this because your shares will NOT BE WORTH AS MUCH soon.

Are you seriously trying to gaslight your customers into believing that you are fighting to keep “our” costs down?!! Your cable prices have gone through the roof. This is why streaming is popular. Whatever your agreement is with Disney or any other network, do your customers a favor and keep us out of your public battles.

Re Disney v. Spectrum, I agree that Spectrum telling us to write to Disney is a blatant attempt to shift the blame. My ESPN2 tennis match went black with no immediate explanation or advanced notice. Shame on Spectrum. As a Spectrum subscriber, I'm already forced to take and pay for channels not wanted or watched. So that issue should be taken off the table, leaving only the fee to be negotiated. I want my ESPN and ESPN2, especially now that the US Open Tennis Tournament is taking place. It is petty and disgraceful that this multi-trillion dollar company removed its programming and is holding it hostage during negotiations. Frankly, I'm fed up with all of you, but if I must pay a little more, so be it. I want to watch the US Open! Get it done!!

Typical Spectrum. No advance notice (not word one in my statement), wait until after business hours in Eastern time zone (like you could actually reach a human being at any time), the weekend college football begins, and attempt to put all the blame on Disney. Good luck on any account credit for service charged for but not provided. Fighting for the consumer to keep costs down? I've got "Standard TV Service", the lowest (supposedly least expensive) tier Spectrum offers. Still have my original Cisco cable adapter (arguably the cheapest modem available) which started at $2.00/mo. Without any upgrades (same box and remote), fee has gone up 8 times to $10.99/mo., with an additional $1.00/mo. for a "secure connection". This interruption and inconvenience will just about do it for me.

I have had enough of Spectrum’s monopoly. They have already raised my rate. When they pay Disney, and they will, our rates will rise again. I think why not pay Disney and skip the middleman. Hulu + Live gives me everything & more for almost half the cost. Also Fubo (but if Spectrum is pushing that …) and YouTube TV are in contention. I will have ESPN before kickoff and Spectrum will lose another customer
